Conductor - Making GREAT Music Approachable

Well the last month sure has been exciting! America's Haydn Festival launched and it included the first work commissioned as an NFT by any orchestra - anywhere. Cristina Spinei approached me with this idea back in March. Her piece, Prelude, is lovely with a real cinematic sweep. Nashville Public Radio ran with the story and it is set to air nationally on Marketplace later this month! Meanwhile, having the opportunity to work with the tremendous musicians of the GCO for two programs dedicated to Haydn (one masterworks program and one family program with longtme collaborator Anna Celenza) was a thrill at the end of a "season" none of us will ever forget. The St. Lawrence String Quartet and pianist Henry Kramer shed light on a fascinating selection of works by Haydn and others. Personally, it was such a delight to spend time with host Bill McGlaughlin after growing up listening to St. Paul Sunday. Finally, Magical Music & Timeless Tales (the NEA Cares funded project I spearheaded to employ GCO musicians during the pandemic) are just about ready for release.
